Marvellous, magical, magnificent May!

After a couple of years lacking in sunshine, the arrival of spring feels especially beautiful this year. Whilst the blackthorn wowed us back in April, cousin Hawthorn is once again showing us it’s much more than just a thorny hedge plant, there to be violently flailed to an inch of its life each winter. A Hawthorn left to be a tree, is an explosion of blossom in springtime – as majestic as any ornamental tree – and especially spectacular right now.

Courtyard lunches have been flavour of the month, so far, with our asparagus taking centre stage. Ross and I took great pleasure watching chef Adam walking down the hill to the barns having picked the last few bunches of the day, just as guests pulled into the car park. Fresh garden produce, alongside our beef and lamb have always been the foundation for our lunches & suppers. A small flock of laying hens arrive next week which will rotate around 3 small orchards – Nancarrow organic eggs incoming…

The first of our ‘Passion for Pasta’ workshops was a joy last week. A lovely group of students spent the day in the Old Mill mastering a range of techniques, ate lunch in the courtyard and took home their fabulous creations. There are summer workshops already in the diary, and plans to develop more. We are very open to suggestions if you have workshop ideas of your own?!

JULY & AUGUST DATES ARE NOW LIVE!

Set menu Farm Suppers return in July! There’s an early evening sitting at 5:30 and another at 8pm with plenty of sunny spots to enjoy a drink before or after food. Menus will change daily but expect our sourdough, farm sharing snacks, main and dessert (sample menu).

We are open for Lunch / Supper & Feasting more than ever this year. Tables for up to 6 are available online. If you plan to book for a large group please email. Please book early to ensure availability.
