With guidance from our friendly in-house pasta experts, you’ll learn how to make simple pasta dough from scratch and handshape it into a variety of fun and achievable pastas together.
Children can try their hands at rolling and cutting Pappardelle and Tagliatelle with the support of their adult. Woodturning
Join local woodturners Dave Chamberlain and Lawrence Moody for a half-day woodturning experience here at Nancarrow. Your session begins with an introduction to the lathe and the specialist (and very sharp!) tools you’ll be using. You’ll then get hands-on, working with wood harvested directly from the farm to create a unique piece to take home. You’ll work at your own pace, with flexibility to explore what interests you most. Starting with crafting a bowl of your own design, there’s usually time to experiment with additional tools and techniques—perhaps trying your hand at making a goblet, vase, dibber, or even a simple spinning top. Spaces are limited to just three guests per Workshop who will all learn on their own lathe alongside Dave & Lawrence, two very experienced instructors.
Your workshop ends with a delicious Farm Lunch, showcasing a selection of dishes prepared by our kitchen team.
All finished pieces will be treated with a food-safe paste made from natural oil and beeswax sourced from the Nancarrow beehives. The workshop takes place in the lambing shed—outdoors, but fully under cover.
Printmaking
Join local artist Alicia Breakspear for a half or full day of learning how to create botanical prints from nature. In this 1-day workshop, you’ll learn the process of botanical printmaking and come home with a selection of original prints on premium papers. Alicia will provide you with a selection of pressed flowers which have been picked from the farm and are in keeping with the changes of the season. You’ll then learn to ink evenly and print from these flowers using a tabletop etching press and create original pieces of artwork on paper.
We recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting a little inky. We will be using non-toxic soy-based inks.
You’ll leave with a selection of prints that you have made. This is usually around 5-10 prints. A kit list and step-by-step guide.
