These last few weeks have seen the winter blues and browns make way for the greens and pinks of spring. Suddenly it feels more like where we want to be – animals are back in the landscape, lambs are skipping, swallows swooping and the tree blossom is humming overhead. It’s what we’ve all been waiting for, but sadly there’s not a great deal of time to sit still and enjoy it.
Flooded land and the prospects of food shortages are mainstream news, and even on our little farm which is far more resilient than most, we’re behind in many departments. Saturated soils and cool dank days means slow progress at best if you’re a plant, or indeed a human! It’s good to have a few more helping hands this year – the first of our volunteers are getting stuck in each Friday, in return for a hearty Courtyard Lunch. There’s room for more if you’re up for a few hours of fresh Nancarrow air and veg-garden based exercise!
But May is here, and it’s fabulous. As such, we’ve lined up plenty of excuses to pay us a visit, for those of you looking to make plans for the spring Bank Holiday week at the end of the month, we’ve just added Thursday 30th May on sale too. On May 12th we host our final Sunday Roast until September. We are moving on to our ‘Summery Sunday lunches’ which celebrate the arrival of the summer produce and the fine weather. These will feature our sourdough, a seasonal main course and dessert. It might even be warm enough to slide the barn doors open. Beautiful. Our lunches are developing into something really quite special. We’ve tweaked the format to allow for the variety of dishes coming out of the woodfired kitchen. Secure your booking with just a £5 deposit (which is deducted off your final bill). This gives you freedom to pick and choose from small plates, specials and more weekly favourites!
Away Days on the Farm
We’ve hosted some incredible days on the farm this spring. Whether it’s providing local children a more emmersive environment to learn, or gathering colleagues in a setting equally suited to talks or team building, or a day of group activities linked to food and nature, we have some unique spaces and people to help inspire your team!
